With a growing involvement in the fight against water pollution and in the protection of the Tagus river and marine wildlife, Terra Incognita partners up with the #probablybetternow movement, carrying out awareness raising actions which call attention to the negative impact of human activity on marine ecosystems.
Through the observation of dolphins and the promotion of experiences related to their activity, Terra Incognita draws the community closer to the marine species of the Tagus river. Close contact with the dolphins, which for many years were no longer part of the river’s landscape, allows for greater awareness raising to the need for the adoption of more sustainable and responsible behaviour. Through these actions, each person can see the positive consequences of a less polluted habitat for themselves.
In the first awareness raising campaign resulting from this partnership, 9 influencers were invited to welcome the dolphins which have been progressively swimming further up the river Tagus and which mark the landscape so uniquely. At the end, a beach clean-up was carried out and resulted in 230m of clean coast as well as emphasizing the importance of the preservation of the environment.
Established in 1996, in Lisbon, Terra Incognita is a sailing school and maritime-tourism operator which celebrates 25 years of experience and maritime adventures. Twenty-five years which will be celebrated with the launching of new activities, such as the observation of dolphins and new diving experiences, but also with the development of new programmes dedicated to sustainability and ecology.
Having been the first sailing academy in the country to obtain certification from the Portuguese Sailing Federation (Federação Portuguesa de Vela) to operate as a specialist in Cruise Sailing, Terra Incognita created the Junior Sailing Academy, a sailing school for children and youths, and the BMW Sailing Academy, a sailing school which provides continued courses for the practice of sailing or for the development of competition techniques.
